Late June 2023
Last placeholder! This one for my week in Florence and Prato, Italy at an AI for Creativity Workshop.
Boy, I didn’t realise I got so far behind. Has been a crazy 6 months…

Eeek! And another couple of placeholders! This time for my flying work trip back to Germany and Italy.
This placeholder will be for the day in Frankfurt and my time at Schloss Dagstuhl. Hopefully, it’s coming soon!

Aaahhhhhh! In returning to my blog I just realised I never did a final blog from Dublin on our last trip!
Consider this a placeholder until I can get back to it. Sorry 🙁
Now to start entries for this new current trip 🙂

Today was a day I was really looking forward to, visiting the famous Giant’s Causeway. We made a fairly early start to beat the hordes, parked and wandered to explore the basalt columns on the shore. It was stunning and awesome to clamber all around, and not too busy which was good.
From there, we made a short side trip to a road nicknamed The Dark Hedges, a road lined with nice spooky trees, one of the nearby Game of Thrones filming locations.
Next was a visit to Carrick-a-Rede, some tiny islands most notable for the rope bridge that you can use to hop on to the closest island. With delightful weather it was nice to cross the bridge and just hang out with the ocean breeze.
Our last stop was at the Portstewart Strand, a MASSIVE beach where you simple drive your car on to it and park! I’m not sure I have ever seen a beach so big. Also notable for being another Game of Thrones locale 😛

Mostly a travel day today, leaving Westport in Ireland and heading to the beach town of Portrush in Northern Ireland. Back in the UK!
The drive took us via the Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetary, and we also took a side tour for some history in the city of Derry, the location of many significant events in the Irish troubles of the last half a century. There we saw the People’s Gallery… painted houses reflecting the events of the past.
We arrived to the coast for dinner, where I had a nice walk along the beach to dip my toes in the Atlantic Ocean.
