Hi. I’m Matt.

Hi. I’m Matt. I’m an Associate Professor and an Accessibility and Human-Computer Interaction Researcher, in the Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. I am also the Associate Dean (Graduate Research) within my faculty.

My research explores the use of new technologies to improve access to graphical information for those who are blind or have low vision. This includes 3D printing, low-cost electronics, conversational agents, refreshable displays, and other emerging technologies. The types of information I am interested in is that relating to education, orientation and mobility, data visualisation, and the cultural artefacts that are found in galleries and museums.

My teaching and research consume much of my time, although when the circumstances allow, I am an avid traveller. Here on this site you can read about much of my travels on my blog.

Please feel free to contact me at my Monash University email, whether it’s about work, play, or anything in between.
